RCLCO Webinar – Unlocking Potential: An Innovation Framework for the Real Estate Industry

September 26, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
Webinar United States

Speakers:
Eric Willett, Vice President
Joshua Boren, Director of Business Development

Vice President, Eric Willett, and Director of Business Development, Joshua Boren, will lead a webinar titled "Unlocking Potential: An Innovation Framework for the Real Estate Industry".

This webinar, hosted by RCLCO Real Estate Advisors, will interactively discuss the optimal framework for unlocking your company’s potential when it comes to innovation and staying ahead of the curve. Covered topics include:

1. The real estate industry’s most sophisticated innovators recognize that innovation is a set of interrelated activities—surfacing, nurturing, and scaling—that require complementary but distinct strategies.

2. Surfacing innovative ideas works best when innovations are drawn from all levels of an organization: top-down, bottom-up, and outside-in.

3. Nurturing new concepts to viability is more important than winnowing down potential ideas. Companies build support for innovation by fostering an internal culture that is willing to accept risk and developing internal resources to nurture ideas.

ULI Northwest Arkansas: Attainable Housing Series – Product Solutions

May 13, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am CDT
Webinar United States

Speaker: Adam Ducker, Senior Managing Director

Adam Ducker will elaborate on findings from the 2019 ULI Attainable Housing Report, including four product solutions to address housing affordability.

Housing affordability throughout the U.S. has once again become an increasing concern as demand has bounced back following the Great Recession in both urban and suburban areas. A largely untold chapter in the story of America’s housing affordability challenge is the shrinking share of modestly-priced, newly-constructed, for-sale homes—what ULI calls “attainable housing.”

During each Wednesday in May, ULI Northwest Arkansas will host a one-hour digital event to explore the topic of attainability more deeply. Over the four-week series, speakers will reveal supply and demand trends, emerging housing types, a case study, and a roundtable discussion about the future of middle-class housing affordability in Northwest Arkansas.

ULI Spring Meeting 2020 Webinar Series

May 29, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
Webinar United States

Speaker: Adam Ducker, Senior Managing Director

Adam Ducker will moderate the session "Family Rental Housing: A Growing Need and Emerging Opportunity" at the ULI Spring Meeting 2020 Webinar Series.

Fifteen million American families with children at home—most of them middle class—live in rental housing and are often priced out of both for-sale housing and newly constructed rental apartments. As a result, this population is most at risk of losing existing housing as value-add investment activity continues to grow at a rapid pace. This session will do the following:

  • Describe renter households with children—where they are, what they are paying, what can they afford.
  • Assess the complex array of housing that serves these households today, with a focus on whether affordability is threatened by conversion of housing to other market segments.
  • Document how the development community built product for this market segment until the 1980s, but then focused elsewhere over the past several decades.
  • Discuss a case for market-rate developers/owners/operators to serve this market segment.

This webinar is part of the 2020 Spring Meeting Webinar Series which runs May 11-June 19, 2020. You can view the full schedule at spring.uli.org.

While Tampa/St. Pete has fared relatively well, Orlando–recently the top apartment development market in the country by units–has been hit hard. Areas where folks can work from home have seen only minor drops in collections and occupancy, while hospitality-fueled markets have been devastated by the health crisis. That said, the pandemic and winter storms have accelerated in-migration to Florida. We are in unprecedented times with few historical comparisons to rely on. What do the next twelve months look like for multifamily operations, investment, and development in Florida?

Speaker: Kelly Mangold, Vice President

Kelly Mangold will moderate the panel "Missing Middle Housing – Expanding Housing Supply and Creating Walkable and Integrated Communities by Expanding Housing Types" on June 24, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM PT, as part of the The Harvard Real Estate Alumni Organization (HREAO) Webinar Series.

Join the Harvard Real Estate Alumni Organization for a webinar exploring the design concept of “Missing Middle Housing” and how it can be used to expand housing supply and create integrated communities. Missing Middle Housing describes a range of house-scale buildings with multiple units (e.g., duplexes, fourplexes, cottage courts, and multiplexes)—compatible in scale and form with detached single-family homes—located in a walkable neighborhood.

The program will go over the history of Missing Middle Housing, analyze case studies of successful developments, and discuss how Missing Middle Housing can be used in conjunction with other strategies like establishing new urbanist communities. Panelists will explain recent academic literature regarding housing affordability discuss how expanding the supply of Missing Middle Housing can help developers provide for-sale housing at middle income price points, and walk through strategies to overcome real-world obstacles such as obtaining community buy-in, amending zoning codes, adapting existing improvements and assembling land and financing. The moderator and panelists include a design professional, an academic researcher, a think tank executive, and a strategy consultant.

Developing Workforce/Attainable Rental Housing: What, Where, Why & How

November 3, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
Webinar United States

Speaker: Adam Ducker, Chief Executive Officer

Adam Ducker will participate in the panel "Developing Workforce/Attainable Rental Housing: What, Where, Why & How" on November 3rd, 2021, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT, hosted by NAHB.

Housing affordability and attainability issues are not just problems for lower-income households but also affect middle-income households, including young people just starting a career, teachers, firefighters, police officers, health care workers, bus drivers, postal workers, small business employees, and staff in many office settings. For many of these workers, suburban rental housing offers the best option from a price point of view. Many multifamily and rental housing developers are shifting their focus to address this growing need for attainable rental housing. What types of rental products are being developed to address this market, where are they located, and how are they being developed feasibly. This webinar will explore these issues to shed light on the what, where, why, and how of developing attainable and workforce rental housing.
