This session will explore the first three mixed-use real estate developments underway in partnership with the Universities and their athletic departments—The Grounds at Wake Forest University (Carter), The KU Gateway District (Edgemoor and Sunflower), and Neyland Entertainment District at UT-Knoxville—who the key partners are from the University/Athletic Dept/Boosters, how the projects and deal structures differ from typical University P3 projects, and the lessons learned. The session will also cover the University perspective: the mandate driving these partnerships, what schools are looking for in private sector partners, and how to get key stakeholders (especially alumni) on board with big moves.
