The Eaton and Palisades fires of January 2025 were among the most destructive disasters in U.S. history, causing widespread devastation across the Altadena and Palisades communities. Thousands of homes and businesses were lost, displacing residents and inflicting billions of dollars in damages. The aftermath presents significant rebuilding challenges, with concerns about leadership, extended recovery timelines, limited financial resources, and fears of lasting change to community character.
RCLCO conducted a survey on behalf of the Urban Land Institute, to hear directly hear the perspectives of residents impacted by the fires. Its goal is to guide elected officials and policymakers in crafting a recovery response that is timely, community-aligned, and focused on effective rebuilding. Read the report to learn more about the survey findings.
